Q?

What types of Valuation do you offer?

A.

We generally offer three types of appraisal valuation

  1. Inventory Appraisal is used when an accurate asset listing does not exist.  This approach requires a detailed inventory and inspection of all the assets in person.
  2. Site Inspection Appraisal involves a detailed inspection of a representative portion of the assets.  This inspection is used to determine the physical condition and to verify the existence of major assets.
  3. Desktop Appraisal is used when there isn't much time or a site visit is not required.  A detailed asset listing must be provided and a person who is familiar with the assets should be available to discuss the condition of the item.  In almost all the valuations, images are required and supplied by the client.

Q?

Do all appraisers have similar qualifications?

A.

No, there are self-acclaimed personal property appraisers who have not completed any professional education.    All staffs at PYK are certified thru the Canadian Personal Property Appraisal Group (CPPAG).  PYK ensures that an accredited CPPAG appraiser attends on-site and reviews every file where a Detailed Appraisal has been requested. For all Summary Valuations or Desktop Opinions, reports are prepared by a CPPAG appraiser and other qualified individuals may be used to obtain photos and capture listings of assets. Any use of Third Party or employee services will be noted in the report.

Q?

What qualifies an Appraiser to value my personal property?

A.

A qualified Personal Property Appraiser should have formal education in appraisal theory, principles, procedures, ethics, and law. They should be up to date on the latest Appraisals standards. Continuing education and testing are the only ways to ensure this competence.
